In recent years, technical TV production has been subject to substantial changes. The digitalization of contribution to and distribution of programs has led to an increase in the number of programs offered, along with significantly higher requirements on editing and production.

At the same time, along with conventional, linear TV, the content produced is meant for a broad range of products, including Internet shows, download platforms, and social media platforms.

Once efficient working processes were developed, the availability and cross-linking of innovative digital production processes provided an opportunity to take the first steps from tape-based production to tapeless and file-based production. 

Users, product manufacturers, and system integrators constantly face new challenges here, because many heterogeneous systems with a correspondingly high number of interfaces have to be integrated and operated.

Moreover, the increasing use of software solutions based on standardized hardware from the fields of information and communication technology makes it possible to realize effective and flexible solutions. At the same time, this involves new challenges as regards the right choice of standards and system platforms.
