Radio Bremen
Performance capability in the smallest Space
Radio Bremen, founded in 1945, is ARD's smallest regional broadcasting agency. Halving ARD's financial compensation reduced the broadcaster's revenue annually by a third of the budget. Because of this, a package of measures was developed which included combining radio and television on a shared site. Introducing file-based television production also meant that it was necessary to enhance program material usability, as well as processes regarding central administration, archiving, and trimedial use. This project, along with the later upgrade of the networked production systems, was implemented by BFE.

Bayerischer Rundfunk
State-of-the-art studio for Bayerischer Rundfunk
Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) is a public-service broadcaster located in the Free State of Bavaria, with its headquarters in Munich. The BR has been an active public-service broadcaster in Bavaria since 1949, and is a member of the ARD (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland — Consortium of public broadcasters in Germany). When the project began, the broadcasting technology in studio FM2 had already been in operation for 16 years. The increased tri-medial orientation of BR and the integration of real-time graphics, studio automation, online content and social media, as well as high demand for hardware and software, required an innovative and holistic concept.

WDR
New control room and cable network for the WDR
The construction of a new television broadcasting center in the WDR "Rechtschule" building involved the replacement of the old TV control room with a new facility. Furthermore, the old temporary broadcast management system and the corresponding automatic VTR were to be replaced by a new master playout control (BE).

Deutsche Flugsicherung
New infrastructure for air traffic controllers
As a state-owned company under private law, DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH employs around 6000 people to keep German skies safe and ensure flights run on time. Each day, more than 2000 air traffic controllers guide up to 10,000 flights through German airspace. They work in control centers in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe, and Munich, and in control towers at the 16 international airports in Germany. The planned overhaul of the air traffic control infrastructure in Langen would also see the introduction of Keyboard - Video - Mouse technology. As a long-standing service partner in the area of KVM technology, BFE was also perfectly placed to take on this challenge.

Al Kass
New HD TV studio for Qatar
The Al Dawri & Al Kass sports channel, located in Doha (Qatar), reports mainly on national sporting events such as football along with the Asian Games, AFC Asian Cup, the Gulf Cup of Nations and more. New HD-based TV studios and production control rooms had to be planned and implemented to accompany the transfer of the broadcast production environment into new buildings.

ProSiebenSat.1
Tapeless workflow for material pool and playout center
The ProSiebenSat1 Group is the leading private television broadcaster in Germany, and one of the leading television service providers in Europe. As a technical service provider, ProSiebenSat1 Produktion (PSP) is responsible for the playout of its free and subscription TV channels in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. PSP manages all production units of Sat1, ProSieben, and Kabel Eins, including concept development for OnAir design, advertising, and audio design, as well as production of trailers and marketing. As part of the broadcaster’s expansion, all tape-based processes had to be switched to file-based processes to increase the efficiency of broadcasting operations, and transferred to a highly-automated environment. The foundations were laid in two subprojects – the material pool and the playout center. The new tapeless workflow was used for the first time in these areas.

ARD Sternpunkt
Real-time graphics system for ARD
The ARD (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten Deutschlands or Association of the Public Broadcasting Corporations in the Federal Republic of Germany) is made up of nine independent, non-governmental state broadcasting corporations in addition to the international broadcaster Deutsche Welle. They provide a range of television, radio and online programs. A new corporate design is coming to the ARD Sternpunkt for implementation in the ARD community program, "Das Erste". One crucial aspect of this is the graphic animated transition effects required to produce a real-time graphics program.
